Croatian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society (HULL)
The Croatian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society (HULL) is a national, non-profit patient organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), multiple myeloma and other haematological malignancies in Croatia. Established in 1994, HULL is one of the country’s leading patient advocacy organisations, working to ensure equitable access to timely diagnosis, innovative treatments, reliable information, psychosocial support and high-quality care.
Our Mission
HULL’s mission is to empower patients and their families through education, advocacy and support, while promoting equal access to the highest standards of haematological care across Croatia. The organisation works closely with healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and international partners to improve patient outcomes and ensure that the patient perspective is reflected in healthcare decision-making.
What We Do
HULL supports patients throughout every stage of their journey by:
- Providing evidence-based educational resources and reliable patient information.
- Organising educational meetings, webinars, workshops and conferences with leading haematology specialists.
- Offering peer support and facilitating access to psychological support services.
- Advocating for equitable access to innovative medicines, diagnostics and quality care.
- Raising public awareness through national campaigns and international awareness days.
- Collaborating with healthcare institutions to improve standards of care and patient-centred services.
- Supporting research, patient engagement and international collaboration in haematology.
National Network
HULL operates through a network of regional branches, ensuring that patients across Croatia can access information and support within their local communities. In addition to its headquarters in Zagreb, HULL has active branches in:
- Donji Miholjac
- Osijek
- Slavonski Brod
- Varaždin
- Zadar
The Society also works in close partnership with patient organisations in Split and Rijeka, further extending its reach and supporting patients throughout the country. This nationwide network enables HULL to combine local patient support with strong national advocacy and educational activities.
International Collaboration
HULL is an active member of several international patient advocacy networks and collaborates with European and global organisations working to improve outcomes for people living with haematological malignancies. As a member of the European Cancer Leagues Leukaemia and Lymphoma Alliance (ECLLA), HULL contributes to initiatives that promote patient empowerment, equitable access to innovative treatments, the reduction of inequalities in care, and the integration of the patient voice into healthcare policy across Europe.
Our Vision
HULL envisions a future in which every person affected by leukaemia, lymphoma or another haematological malignancy has equitable access to early diagnosis, effective treatment, comprehensive supportive care and the opportunity to achieve the best possible quality of life.
